Rolex Rolex Daytona 6265

The first model of this historical reference dates back to 1963. This model is associated with the world of motor racing and was designed to meet the chronometric needs of professional drivers. The model had, and still has, three counters and a tachymeter scale that allows drivers to precisely measure their time. Despite being Rolex's most famous model, it wasn't an immediate success. The most iconic model is the Paul Newman made of steel with an Exotic dial. It was worn in 1969 by Paul Newman on the set of "Virages", a film directed by James Goldstone. The model owned by Paul Newman was sold in 2017 by Philips in New York for $17.8 million. This model can loosely be considered an "improved" version of the 6263 as it achieves better water resistance thanks to three sets of push buttons: the "Millerighe", the 24-P301 (with the Oyster Triplock 701 crown) and the 24-P302 (with the Triplock 702 crown). This model has the same characteristics as the 6263. The bezel is slightly larger, with a deeper engraved tachymeter scale.
