Rolex Rolex Explorer 5504

The first Rolex Explorer watch was officially introduced in 1953 with the reference 6350 after the first successful ascent of Mount Everest. However, references 6098 and 6150 were presented in 1952 as the first prototypes of this model, without the name Explorer on the dial. As its name suggests, Explorer is the ultimate watch for explorers and mountaineers. Made of stainless steel, it is rugged, resistant and can endure the most extreme conditions. The dial is easy to read and features the classic 3,6,9 dial. The goal was to design the ultimate exploration model that could withstand very low temperatures and up to 70% less oxygen than at sea level. The Rolex Explorer 5504 is called the " Air King Oversize " because its case is 2mm larger than the 5500. A special version is available with a " Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified " marking. This version usually only has the " SUPER PRECISION " marking. The dial also features an inverted triangle at 12 o'clock.
