Rolex GMT-Master - 1675 - Very Good - Full Set

The Rolex GMT Master was developed by Pan Am Airlines for airline pilots in the 1950's. This model was the first to introduce the "dual time zone" feature, which was designed to reduce the impact of jet lag. The original 1955 model (reference 6542) had a graduated disc with two colors: red for daytime and blue for nighttime. The second time zone is read with a triangular hand that makes a full 24-hour revolution. This model was mostly made of steel, although there are also yellow gold variants that have different details. The Rolex GMT Master 16758 appeared between 1979 and 1988. This piece is made of 18 carat yellow gold for the case and the bracelet. On the dial we find the word "OYSTER PERPETUAL" and at 6 o'clock, "T SWISS T". The bezel is rotating in 18K gold and this reference 16758 features guards on the side of the crown. The dial came in brown, black and gold, plus a rare version in which the bezel is sapphires and rubies, while the dial is diamonds.
