The Rolex GMT Master was developed in the 1950's for airline pilots at the request of Pan Am Airlines, the world's largest intercontinental airline at the time, and pioneered the "dual time" function, created to alleviate the burden of time difference. The original 1955 model, which can be identified by the reference 6542, had a graduated disc with dual colouring: red for day and blue for night. The second time zone can be read thanks to a triangular-shaped hand capable of performing a full 24-hour rotation. This model is mainly made of steel, although there are also yellow gold variants that differ in some details. The Rolex GMT Master 16750 has a 40mm case and the calibre 3075. This reference is very similar to the 1675 which is its predecessor. However, we can still note an improvement of the caliber and a waterproofness that goes from 50 meters to 100 meters. The main difference is the appearance of the Quickset function which considerably facilitates the use of the watch.
