The Rolex Submariner was introduced in 1953 with the reference 6204 and was the first waterproof diver's watch in history. This model featured a stainless steel strap and a sturdy case that allowed it to be worn down to 100 meters. Its water resistant capability was later increased to 300 meters. Its unidirectional rotating bezel allows divers to track their dive times and decompression stops. Furthermore, the Rolex Submariner's glowing hands and markers make it easy to read even in deep water. The Rolex Submariner 168000, also known as the "Triple Zero", was only produced for about nine months. This reference is very similar to its predecessor, the 16800. The only real difference is the switch from 316L stainless steel for the 16800 to 904L for the 168000.
