Very few brands have had the honor of being worn by the most famous secret agent in movie history. Of course, we are talking about James Bond, the iconic 007 of action movies. Throughout his long history, the fictional character created by Ian Fleming and portrayed by different actors on the big screen, has worn different watch models, which we will focus on below.

The first phase: James Bond and the Rolex Submariner

Sean Connery

  • 1962 James Bond makes his first screen appearance in James Bond 007 versus Dr No. Actor Sean Connery wears a Rolex Submariner 6538 from 1959. This watch, incidentally, is the most expensive model ever worn by James Bond.
  • 1963 : In From Russia With Love, Sean Connery wears a Rolex Submariner 6538.
  • 1964 : In Goldfinger, James Bond wears a Rolex Submariner again.
  • 1965: In Thunderball, the special agent wears two watches. He uses his Rolex Submariner to tell the time and a modified Breitling Top Time as a Geiger counter.
  • 1967 : In You Only Live Twice, it's not clear which watch he wears, but some connoisseurs say it's a gold Gruen, probably from Sean Connery's private collection. Others believe it's the "classic" Rolex Submariner.
  • 1971 : Sean Connery returns in Diamonds Are Forever, but the secret agent doesn't seem to wear a watch in this film. This was the only time it happened in the movie franchise's history.

George Lazenby

  • 1969 : The Australian actor George Lazenby played the role of James Bond only once, in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. In the movie, the actor wears a Rolex Submariner 5513 and a Rolex Chronograph 6238.

  • 1981 : In For Your Eyes Only, Roger Moore plays James Bond for the fifth time. Two watches can be seen on his wrist during the movie: the Seiko 7549-7009 and the Seiko H357 Duo Display.
  • 1983 : In Octopussy, Agent 007 wears two Seiko LCD watches. The first one has a receiver connected to a transmitter placed in an object, while the second one has a television with a liquid crystal screen.
  • 1985 : In A View to a Kill, Bond wears several Seiko models and a Rolex Datejust.

Timothy Dalton

  • 1989 : In Licence to Kill, Dalton's second and last movie as 007, the actor returns to the Rolex brand with the Rolex Submariner 16610.
